- YouTube.com URL is a top-level domain name (TLD). This is the original domain name of YouTube.
- YouTu.be is a country code domain TLD (aka ccTLD). The .be is a domain name assigned to Belgium.
- Youtu.be is just a shortened URL that still leads to Youtube.com

As .com domains signify a domain name for a commercial entity, the YouTube founders chose YouTube.com for their video service. The YouTube.com domain was registered on 14 Feb 2005.

In 2009, Google launched YouTu.be domain name. As we explained earlier – the .be stands for Belgium.
